where, oh where to even begin?
i stumbled across this girl's lj and i'm pretty positive we've crossed paths in san marcos and austin DOZENS of times, gone to the same shows, saw the same movies at the time, etc. etc., AND i remember an old friend of my brothers telling me he had met her back in 2002, got her number and so forth. this old friend of my bro is now married with a kid, maybe even 2. WEIRD!
the point is, this chic seems super sweet and really genuine, which is rare to find--how could we not have met? it bothers me just a tad and i dont know why. anywho, <--- oh and p.s. i hate when this word comes out, not diggin the "anywho" so much.. blah! she is really creative and artsy, and her lj posts are just fun to read. she evens posts these videos of herself singing johanna newsom and neutral milk hotel, and wow..i just praise her for having the guts without being boastful or pretentious. so, my hat is off to you mandapop!
summer is coming to an end, and soon 2008 will be 200freaking9! when does fall even officially begin because i am more than ready for those cooler months, and then winter! to bust out scarves & coats and to actually use my fireplace. oh and how could i forget SMORES?! sigh, i just realized that an empty fireplace is just depressing. im almost convinced to buy those candle wires to stick in and at least light it up somehow. oh, the desire for a hot heat!
it is now 8 months since i've been in austin, and i love it, but every blue moon i find myself unexpectedly crying about the past and missing old friends who i don't have anymore. it IS stupid, i KNOW! but really, i do have things in my life that completely outweigh that kind of sadness that overtakes me.
FROM GHETTO to HANCOCK BIKE STEALING SQUARE:
I lived with Vanessa, an old high school pal, for 6 months up north in this decent place but in a probably pedophile location. we were risky bitches! i love vanessa to death. she is one of the funniest girls i have ever met, and she and i got along incredibly well as roommates and friends. she recently got engaged to her boyfriend in the army, and has moved to be with him in alabama! it was crazy the day we dropped some bags off to goodwill, i didnt realize that that was the last i would see of her (for a while...) we exchanged a big hug and she was gone... (have u cried a little yet? ;-)
So I'm in my new place which is significantly smaller than the 2/2 i came from, but i was able to move in and sell/give away items so i could squeeze my life into 600 sq. feet. I like it here expect for the jackoff that decided to steal my bike right off my front porch. WHY?! joey and i even got into a conversation about stealing private property vs. stealing from corporations...i think you can see where we went from there.
ahh, the joey. our relationship has truly grown and gets better on a daily basis. our miffs are not often, and he is just g-r-e-a-t.
while i was gone for work today he completely did my dishes (uhm, this is briliant) and cleaned klaus' box. oh and klaus, our kitty! he now lives with me because he thinks he is a prince, and that we must feed him under his orders, and that he must watch me dress and undress. yes he is a creep, but he the cutest thing. if you would like to know the story of how klaus came into my life, it is actually in facebook or catbook. My job is fantasic and I'm still under the umbrella that is glaceau vitaminwater. My manager ordered me and my team lead some new apparel and theyre really freaking cool..which i need to wash (going on my to do list ... sooon...) I have done nothing but brave the cruel texas heat, cruise around in a branded van with my team lead, kevin, and give give GIVE vitaminwater. we are like saints to some people. i can't even tell you how amazing it is that i get to meet hundreds and thousands of people through my job. its just like this networking bubble that divides and creates other bubbles to create other bubbles so on and so on and it is floating around me always. i have this job for a year with the contract i signed. we get no health benefits which blows, but the company pays for everything and anything...except for me going to the dentist. boooooooo.
like next week, we're set up at this hotel in downtown san antonio for a big slaes blitz. the room, dinners, valet, booze...all paid for. awesome? yes.
speaking of networking, i've even met some awesome people through joey. brilliant! susan, jason, teresa, addie, lola, tc, brewer, dante, daniel...they are all very cool laid back and incredibly real. they all are pretty much midland folk, except for jason and susan. they are just all great people who i love. oh and i could never outdrink those bastards even if i tried!
last night joey and i went to momo's to the L & G magazine release party where jason is featured in the issue. after meeting some of the photographers there, it also got me thinking that i really need to get my headshots together. someday...
i did meet this really nice guy lawrence at the vince young tailgating party recently too. he is an actor, with an agent, he gave me his card...which i now have stuck on the fridge. he was telling me to get into it, get photos, audition and such and that i have a real "fresh and appealing" look. ?? hm, thank you? but doesn't everyone? i mean, like in the movie Closer, natalie portman's character brings this up too... that any person's face or look is fresh, new or beautiful. hmm, deeeeep thoughts!
ahhh, sweet lord. i am finally off this weekend. my job never gives us a chance to get a typical weekend off. its usually in the middle of the week, but gaaaaaahhhhh, i'm just completely calm and relaxed as i write this and with nothing to do but zone out and play with mr. klaus, who is in fact being a very sweet cat at the moment.
oh yea! i also dyed a portion of my hair pink a month ago. i will post pics when i can. since my hair is so porous, the pink has gradually faded, so my hair really looks like neapolitan ice cream. no complaints! ive even received compliments.
oh and i am very satisfied with my hair stylists from toni & guy at barton creek. lindsey cuts my hair, and yeah, she loves vitaminwater. boom, i'm in! lindsey is this real punky chick with white-blonde spunky hair and looks like helena bonham carter. when i told her this, she sounded offended, so i'm like "dude, lindsey, she is amazing. did you ever see FIGHT CLUB? orrrr novocaine with steve martin?" classic. got right back in and made that situation almost golden.
kitty is also one of the color technicians and colored my hair. she was pretty rad and did an awesome job, so now its all on me to keep up with the color if i want to. i guess i will for a while. something different, something new. all i've needed is something new, since this year has been nothing but newness.
my best friend since 1st grade finally came back from hawaii where she had been living for a year. i have not seen her yet, but its going to be wonderful to see her again. she's always been so far away, overseas and experiencing new cultures, and at the same time we've keep in touch, have never fought once, and she will always be someone i love and trust. i'm still trying to get her to come visit me in austin and we are planning on going to sea world in san antonio sometime for some sea lion swimming! im not even joking. my old boyfriend from highschool is a trainer at the park and said he'd get me to come and swim with the seals which i am still begging to do. they're like aquatic cats without tails and pointy ears.
don't fret folks, i'm absolutely going to be blogging/ljing/writing to everyone about ACL coming up. As my first time going, I get an all access 3 day pass, plus back stage entry, where we are just supplying the musicians with vitaminwater. can you say SICK?!
looking at the band list, these are who i want to see perform - beck, manu chao, david byrne, neko case, band of horses, the black keys, okkervil river, hot chip, spiritualized, stars, css, man man, mgmt, octopus project, the kills, fleet foxes, mates of state, silversun pickups, and most likely more. meeting them would be sweet too.
last movie i saw was my netflix, roger dodger, and i wasnt sure if i liked it. thought it was ok, the roger character reminds me of so many assholes that i've met, so now wonder i was kind of iffy on it. the subjects addressed in the movie are pretty funny, weird and jarring. ehh, B -
last movie i saw at the theater... in search of a midnight kiss, was....Yay! i could go ON and ON about it, but really, i loved it and i think appreciative austinites who love the city would surely dig this film. it's very down to earth and levels itself to the audience so fine. the makers of the film started in austin and went to LA, so i think big supporters of this kind should check it out. A!
i've started reading stephen colbert's book I am america, and so can you! it's incredible for too many reasons to list, but so far it's got everything: pure hilarity, photos/stickers, the chapters are as easy to read as a comic book page and yeah, colbert is just the shit. if you dont understand humor, sarcasm, or well, facts ? then you may not enjoy it...You decide now.
Election 2008. holy !@#$. Let's just call it ERECTION'08 since the republicans are getting uber boners over Mrs. sassyqueenbitch Sarah Palin. Now, I am not one to judge too quickly, i just observe! msr.palin speaks strongly and very well, yet i love how she bashes obama's campaign over and over while getting her crowd to start boooooo-ing. When did it become the comedy central roast of barak obama? psh, im already too tired to explain my opinions..tired as a sprinting wolf in alaska, the kind that palin would hunt and kill after my exhaustion! hahah, im really not as hot headed as others are about mccain/obama... i just like to see the lame debates and arguments all over town that are destroying friendships. i swear, it's happening.
so sept 18th is the new its always sunny in philidelphia season--- joey and i are thrilled. the show is fantastic. the arrogant writing is close to perfect. sept 25th is the new office season too. yessss. i want to gather a party.
dizzzaaaam, its already 11. my eyelids are two magnets. i will start writing more later, just had to get a good chunk out for now.
